Johnny Borden Lewis, Jr.

Johnny Lewis passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of Sunday, August 4, 2024. Johnny was born in Havana, Arkansas to the late Johnny Borden Lewis, Sr. and Alice Marie Lewis.

Johnny graduated from North Little Rock High School and began work in the mailroom of First National Bank. After working at the bank for 32 years, he rose his way up to Senior Vice President of the Loan Division. The bank at the time of his retirement was Regions Bank.

After his banking career, Johnny went on to sell boats for several different dealerships, but Sportsman's Haven was his favorite and they treated each other like family.

Johnny married the love of his life and the only girlfriend he ever had, JoAnn Turner, when they were 18. They began their adventurous life together and he hated to be away from her for even a day.

Johnny was an avid outdoorsman with his true passion being fishing. He was a member of the Southwest City Bass Club, and his favorite places to fish were Lake Maumelle, The Arkansas River, and Lake Ouachita. When he retired from selling boats, there was rarely a day he was not fishing at Lake Maumelle. Johnny loved to fish tournaments with his son Jay and taught him everything he knows about fishing.

Johnny loved his family and friends and had several different names he went by: Johnny, JB, Bubba, Pepaw, and Peeps. He always had a smile on his face, with his blue eyes, and white hair that was always perfectly done. Johnny loved to crack jokes with people and his smile and laugh were infectious.

Johnny was preceded in death by love of his life JoAnn Lewis; his parents; sister Marilyn Burrows; and his brother-in-law Don Burrows.

Johnny is survived by his children: Cindy Outlaw (Billy), Tracy Bright (David), Jodi Loftis, and Jay Lewis (Patsy); his grandchildren: Amber Upton (Todd), Christian Outlaw (Marlena), Allyson Henson (Brad), Lindsey Ross, KW Roy (Haley), Hayden Roy, and Shelby Loftis; several great grandchildren; as well as his sister: Carolyn Yandell (Eston).

In honor of Johnny’s life, a visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. will be held at Fellowship Bible Church in Benton, AR on Wednesday August 14th, with a memorial service immediately following at 11:30 a.m.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Southern Charm Senior Living and Arkansas Hospice for taking wonderful care of Johnny.
