Johnny Ray Spears, age 52, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012. He was born on December 22, 1959, at Murfreesboro, the son of Marlon Joe Spears and Joann Bryant Spears. He was preceded in death by his father; and three sisters, Shelia Hancock, Debra Nowlin and Pamela Spears. A U.S. veteran of the Army National Guard, he was a member of the A-1 Deer Camp; enjoyed hunting and fishing; but his greatest enjoyment in life was being employed as a truck driver. He was a member of the Sunshine Nazarene Church of Hot Springs and dearly loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his companion, Marylyn Patterson of Hot Springs, his mother, Joann Spears of Arkadelphia; his foster mother, Shirley Davis of Amity; his stepmother, Shirley Spears of Amity; two sons, Eric Brandon Spears of Grannis and Christopher Spears of Amity; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Tommy Spears of Arkadelphia, Dewayne Spears and Philip Spears, both of Amity; one sister, Carol Hitchens of Hot Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, August 4, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. J. B. Evans officiating. Visitation will be held Friday evening, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Coker Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Edwin Reed, Justin Reed, Kelly Duggan, Jerry Martin, T. J. Johnson, Craig Martin, Mac Davis, B. J. Bankhead, Jonathan Davis and Scottie Freeman.
