Johnny Vance

Listen to Obituary

Johnny Vance, born November 25, 1936, in Houston, Mississippi, peacefully passed away on May 11, 2026, in Conway, Arkansas. A devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather, Johnny's life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and unwavering loyalty.

Johnny dedicated many years as an over-the-road truck driver, a career marked by diligence and commitment. He also proudly served in the National Guard, honoring his country with the same steadfast devotion he showed his family. Above all, Johnny's proudest accomplishment was his family, the heart of his life and joy.

He and his beloved wife, Frances Vance, shared a love story that began with a blind date and blossomed into a lifelong friendship and partnership spanning 71 wonderful years. Together, they found happiness in simple pleasures—visiting casinos to play the slots, attending horse races, and spending quiet moments outside watching hummingbirds and other birds.

Johnny’s personality was defined by a huge heart and a generous spirit. He was a hard worker who relentlessly provided for his loved ones. His kindness and loyalty made him not only a dedicated husband but also a remarkable father to his children Gary Vance and Judy Vance, and a treasured grandfather to Dustin Vance and Corey Vance. His affection extended warmly to his great-grandchildren: Bridger, Lexie, Sydney, Kimber, and Harlee Vance.

Among the fond memories that bring smiles and laughter is Johnny’s penchant for wielding a chainsaw—so much so that his daughter Judy had to insist he refrain from cutting limbs on her property unless she was present. This playful reminder speaks to the lively spirit that lived within him.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife Frances; siblings Shirley Turner, Lynne Taylor (Billy), Gene Vance (Becky), and David Vance; his son Gary Vance (Debbie) ; daughter Judy Vance; grandsons Dustin and Corey Vance (Leanna); and great-grandchildren Bridger, Lexie, Sydney, Kimber, and Harlee Vance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oren and Ruby Vance.

A graveside service to honor Johnny’s life will be held on May 19, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery, 7401 Hwy 5 N., Alexander, Arkansas 72002.

Johnny Vance’s legacy is etched deeply in the hearts of those who knew him. His love, his laughter, and his steadfast devotion will forever be cherished. The world is richer for having known him, and though he has departed, the love he planted will bloom through generations to come.
