Jon Robertson, 53, passed away on August 1, 2025. He was born to Alton Robertson and Janie McGraw Robertson on June 29, 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Evelyn Hohl Robertson.
Jon was caring and incredibly smart. He was born in Conway and lived most of his life in central Arkansas. After disassembling his first hard drive as a child, he fell in love with computers. He carried that love with him for all of his life, and had an impressive collection of original retro computers to show for it. He taught himself to take them apart and put them back together, and he knew everything there was to know about them. He turned this passion and natural aptitude into a career in software development, and he excelled in that career for 35 years.
Jon never hesitated to show his excitement for things, and he got excited often. He loved Star Trek since first watching the Original Series as a kid, and he remained an avid Trekkie until the day he died. He shared a love of movies with his dad and passed on his love of music to his daughter, teaching her to love Prince and Guns N’ Roses as a kid. In his later years, he took on all kinds of projects, tinkering with old electronics from the thrift store until he knew how they worked. He never stopped wanting to learn.
If you knew Jon, you know that his laugh was infectious; it was loud, and genuine, and he never felt embarrassed by it. Those who heard it often should consider themselves lucky. He had a great affinity for dad jokes, frequently sporting t-shirts with corny puns that he–and sometimes only he–found hilarious.
Jon was always trying to grow into a better person than he was the day before. He was attentive to those around him, showing his love through small gestures and acts of kindness. He took on boring and even unpleasant tasks without complaint to make things easier for those he loved, and he loved his family more than anything.
We will always remember his joyful, childlike spirit and his giddy grin. He left us too soon, and he will be incredibly missed.
Jon is survived by his wife, Aimee Robertson; his daughter, Delaney (Cameron) Minor; many friends; and his work family at Apprentice. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, at One Life Community Church of Little Rock (1604 Merrill Dr. #D, Little Rock, AR 72211).
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Diabetes Association in Jon’s honor.
