Kyle Thompson lived a life full of energy, creativity, and had an amazing sense of humor and heart. Kyle left us all too soon on September 16, 2025.
Born Jonathan Kyle Thompson on June 22, 1995, he was the son of Ashley Thompson and John David Johnson. Kyle was strong-willed and determined, a true fighter for the people and passions he loved. Kyle’s heart belonged to his son Roman, and his mom. His greatest pride was being a father and his love for Roman was evident in every word, smile and dream for the future. His devotion for his mom was just as fierce, a reflection of the love and guidance that shaped him.
Kyle leaves behind his parents: Ashley Thompson Randall (Adam) and John David Johnson (Susan); his only son, Roman and Roman’s mother, Melissa Long (Jeff); grandmothers: Carol Ann Holland (Everett) and Linda Johnson; aunts, uncles, cousins; and a litter of friends. Kyle will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those fortunate enough to have shared in his life.
Kyle faced hardships with incredible strength. Even after losing his legs, he never let that stop him from doing the things he loved most. His determination kept him fishing on quiet waters. Choosing the freedom of skateboarding and pursuing his love of fitness and martial arts. His perseverance was a reflection of his strong will and the fighter’s spirit that defined him.
Kyle had his own struggles, but he never let them get in the way of his love for others. He had a gift for bringing people together—the kind of person who could make a room lighter with his presence, turn an awkward moment in something funny or more awkward, and put people at ease with his humor and kindness. He also had a rate ability to connect with people on a level that was deeply personal—a connection that only that specific individual could truly feel.
His fearless love for skateboarding, fishing, soulful music, expressive artwork, reflected the adventurous and creative spirit that defined him. Even though he may not have always felt it, Kyle made a lasting impact on everyone around him. His life, his love, and his spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
