Joseph “Joe” Milton Clark, age 83, of Bonnerdale, fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
Joe was born on November 7, 1937, in Cadillac, Michigan, the son of Harvard History Clark and Gertrude Bessie Knecht Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Melvin Clark and Gail Clark; and two sisters, Doris Clayton and Marge Jones.
While still young, his family moved to Arizona where Joe graduated from Thunderbird Academy in 1956. He lived in Arizona and then in California, before moving to Arkansas in 1975. All of his life, Joe was in construction and even after his retirement in 1999, he continued to work part time on occasion in construction. He built his home in Bonnerdale, and then rebuilt it in the early 1980’s after a fire destroyed the original dwelling.
Joe was a member of the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church for over forty years. He was never one to want to draw attention to himself, instead he preferred to work behind the scenes in helping people and at his church. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the produce with his church family. He was known as “The Whistler” at the Singspirations, sang in the choir, and led out occasionally as chorister at the Bonnerdale church.
He is survived by his loving wife of over twenty-nine years, Sharon Johnson Clark of Bonnerdale; his daughter, Doreen Harris and her husband, Rick, of Hot Springs; his son, Steven Clark and his wife, Betty, of Arkadelphia; his son, Victor Clark of Fort Smith; four stepdaughters, Dawn Pando of Texas, Esther Todd of Washington, RosaLea Todd of Arkansas and Helen Todd of North Carolina; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Arden and Nina Clark, and his sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Bill Sais, all of Tennessee; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Shannon and Evette Johnson of Bonnerdale; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Memorial services will be held by the family at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 10, 2021, in the Bonnerdale Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Brandon Westgate officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home and Crematory, Glenwood.
