Josephine Ann Pfeifer passed away quietly in her home in North Little Rock, Arkansas, on March 4, 2024 at the age of 90.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will follow at 2:00 pm at St Mary Catholic Church in North Little Rock, with a graveside service following at Calvary Cemetery in Little Rock.
Mrs. Joann Jansen Pfeifer was born in Pocahontas, Arkansas on Dec 13, 1933, the daughter of Martin and Josephine Ungerank Jansen. Joann attended St. Paul’s High School and after graduation she relocated to Little Rock where she lived with her sister Virginia for several years. Joann was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she later retired.
Joann married Aloys F. Pfeifer on July 25, 1966 they celebrated 51 years of marriage together. Joann always enjoyed playing cards by herself and with others. She was also an avid reader, and until her passing, she enjoyed regularly exercising with friends at the North Little Rock Senior Center.
Joann is survived by three stepchildren: Rita Pfeifer of Jalisco, Mexico; Margaret Pfeifer Szafarz and husband Steve of Atlanta, Georgia; Michael Pfeifer and wife Susan Pfeifer of Berryville, Arkansas; two granddaughters Natalie Szafarz-Robinson of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Whitney Pfeifer of Little Rock; two great-grandchildren Coen and Maddox Robinson. She is also survived by her brother Paul Jansen, sisters Frances Baltz, Dorothy Ward and 44 nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her husband Aloys, her parents Martin and Josephine Ungerank Jansen, brothers Joseph, Martin Ed, Bill, Larry; and, five sisters Marie Conway, Elizabeth Carucci, Catherine Conway, Virginia Cenac, and Patricia Dowdle.
