Joy Mae Skarda

Joy Mae Skarda, 88, of Mabelvale, departed this world August 13, 2023, in Little Rock. She was born  November 12, 1934, to Bernie Alvin McDonald and Esther (Felts) McDonald in Carlisle. Joy is preceded in death by her father; mother, Esther Watson; her husband of 46 years, Alfred James Skarda; sons, Scott “Kris” Skarda and Monte Skarda; siblings, Shirley Hobbs, Carolyn West, and James McDonald.

Joy is survived by her sons, Stuart “Kent” Skarda, David “Brad” Skarda, James “Todd” Skarda (Stephanie), and Martin “Blake” Skarda; grandchildren, David Skarda, Drew Skarda (Rachael Spurlock), Lyndsey Skarda Taylor, Andie K. Skarda Taylor (Caleb), Ethan Skarda (Morgan), Sophie Skarda, Sam Skarda, Krissy Skarda, and Slade Harrelson; great grandchildren, Jaxsyn Taylor, Emerey Taylor, Alayna Taylor, Hagan Skarda, and Luca Skarda; siblings, Barbara Marek (Gulf Port, MS), and many nieces and nephews.

Joy was a dedicated member of the River of Life Assembly of God, Mabelvale, and a former member of Lonoke Church of Christ in her teenage years. Throughout the years she was employed at Munsey Products, Kroger, where she retired, and M.M. Cohn.

Visitation will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, August 19, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock, AR 72205, service will follow. Burial will be at 1:00 PM at Czech National Cemetery at Hazen.
