Joyce Dean Elizabeth Knighten

Joyce Dean Elizabeth Knighten, born September 17, 1943, passed away on September 5, 2026.

Joyce will be remembered as a woman of faith and devotion. She was Pentecostal, and her faith was an important part of her life. She worked for NRI for several years. She also loved to sew, a gift and pastime that reflected her care, patience, and creativity. On May 29, 1970, she married the love of her life, William Jerry Knighten, beginning a marriage that would remain a treasured part of her story.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Jerry Knighten of Pearcy, Arkansas; her son, Chad Knighten; and her daughter, Stephanie (Jason) Newman. Joyce also leaves behind her sisters, Danita Bever, Esther (Ras) Pittman, Mary (Larry) Barrentine, and Marty (Bob) Parker. Her memory will be cherished by her grandchildren, Taylor Kara, Matthew Kara, Hannah Kara, Alec Newman, Avery Newman, Adam Newman, Anderson Newman, and Orion Knighten.

Joyce was preceded in death by her father, Quentin Daniel; her mother, Ina Mae Daniel; and her brothers, Quentin Daniel Jr., James Daniel, and Melvin Daniel.

Visitation will be held on September 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home - Hot Springs, 2205 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913, and a funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery following the service.

Joyce will be remembered with love by her family and friends, and her life will remain a lasting blessing to those who had the privilege of knowing her.
