Joyce Yates

Joyce K. Yates, 86, of Sherwood, died on January 4, 2018. Joyce was the daughter of Amy and Jess Bennett, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, May Bennett, Patricia Bennett Baker, Dale Bennett, Neal Bennett, and a grandson, Brian Miller.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, James Yates; her remaining siblings, Mack Bennett (Lynn), Chris Faulkner, Jean Sledge, Jeanette Carpenter (Bob), Shirley Arnold (Don), and Florene Bennett; her sons, Rickey Miller (Cindy), Fred Griebel; her daughters, Janice Culpepper (Montie), Carolyn Underwood (Ted); grandchildren, Burt Gardner, Matt Miller, Drew Griebel, Reagan Martinez (Juan), Rachel Griebel, Cheryl Kendrick, and Alisha Stone; great-grandchildren, Amber Stone, Ashlyn Green (Daryl), Callie Kendrick; and one great-great grandchild, Joyce Green, who bears her name.

Joyce was a vital part of our family and will be missed greatly.

Services will be held at Smith-Sherwood Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018, with the Rev. Larry Ballard officiating. Entombment will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park.
