"JR" Harvey Leon Guynn, Jr.

Listen to Obituary

Harvey Leon “JR” Guynn, Jr., a respected and well-loved member of his community, was born on August 16, 1955, in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed away on June 20, 2025. Known for his big heart, grit, and humor, JR left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

After graduating from Sheridan High School, JR worked alongside his dad at Statewide Roofing. He put in many years of hard work and built a solid reputation as someone who always showed up, rolled up his sleeves, and got the job done right.

Around the neighborhood, JR was known as “Pepaw.” He welcomed everyone with open arms and was always ready with a story, usually starting with his famous line, “When I was a little girl…” His sense of humor and love for people made him someone you never forgot.

JR was a gearhead through and through. He loved cars and racing, and even once raced against the legend Mark Martin. He enjoyed the sound of engines and the thrill of the track, but even more so, being a part of something. After losing the love of his life, Teresa, JR leaned heavily on his close group of friends at Boss Hogs. They were like family to him and helped pull him through some of his hardest days. Also, by his side, his constant companion, was his little dog, Nova. She was his shadow, his sidekick, and his best friend—spoiled, pampered, and fed better than most people!

JR was a man of quiet faith who lived by example. He had a giving spirit and never hesitated to help someone in need; he was the kind of man who really would give you the shirt off his back. He could be stubborn and hard-headed at times, but he had a heart of gold.

In death, JR gave the ultimate gift—life. Through organ donation, he continued his legacy of generosity, offering hope to others even as his time on this earth came to a close.

Left to carry on his memory are his children: Christopher Guynn, John Walker (Amber), and Bobbie Greeno (Mr. Walter Parish). He proudly wore the title of “PePaw” to Caitlian Edmonson (& fiancé Hunter), CJ Greeno, Gage Greeno, and Lucas Parish. His home and heart were open to many, and he unofficially “adopted” more grandkids than could be counted, each one special to him. He was more than just a grandfather—he was a mentor, a friend, and a steady presence in their lives. He also leaves behind his sister, Karen Guynn; his nieces, Skye Bachmeier (Cody) and Kacee Anna Larimore; his beloved Nova; and a wide circle of family, friends, and neighbors who will miss him more than words can say.

He is preceded in death by his love of over 32 years, Teresa Walker; his parents, Harvey Sr. and Madge (Whatley) Guynn; his sister, Teresa Guynn Larimore; and his brother, Michael Guynn.
