Justin Garrison

Justin Edwin Garrison, 84, of Little Rock, passed away June 6, 2011. He was born in Little Rock to Jasper and Margie Garrison. Graduating from Little Rock High School, Justin entered the U.S. Army and then attended Little Rock Junior College and Hendrix. He graduated from S.M.U. in Dallas where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and helped to start the Arkansas Club on campus. He then moved to Ruston, Louisiana where he joined Trinity United Methodist Church and sang in the choir and the Men's Quartet. He was a longtime member of the Ruston Kiwanis Club. Moving to Little Rock, he joined Highland Valley United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir and the Men's Ensemble.
Justin enjoyed gardening, especially making hanging baskets. He loved music and sang in choirs for over 60 years. He was a loving husband, devoted father, caring grandfather and faithful friend. To all of us he was a role model of integrity and honor. He loved the Lord and proved it by the way he lived.
Preceded in death by his parents and twin grandchildren, Paschal and Bella Garrison, he is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy Paschal Garrison; sons, Gil Garrison of Atlanta, Georgia and Gary Garrison and wife, Megan of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Ashley, Holly, Sara and Jacob Garrison; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Garrison; sister, Marietta Gutierrez (Frank) and niece, Rita Newman, both of North Little Rock; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be this morning, Wednesday, June 8, beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 at Highland Valley United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. David Moore and Rev. Bill Cato. Pallbearers will be George Parkman, Dr. Darryl Johnson, Ted Dillaha, Thurman Woodworth, John Hill, Don Smith, George Smith, Kevin Reed and Jacob Garrison. Honorary pallbearers will Dr. Doug McGuire, L.D. Napper and the Highlander Sunday School Class.
