Karen Joyce McKinney, age 77, of Hot Springs, passed away on December 28, 2023.

She was born on June 8, 1946, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Harley and Thelma Sheets. She is preceded in death by her parents; a loving son, Darrell Wayne Holcomb; one sister, Shirley Ann Sheets; and a fur baby, Shelby.

She is survived by the love of her life, Lynn Harvey; sister, Kathy Buck (David); grandson, Spencer Holcomb (Tammi); a fur baby, Jada; numerous cousins, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Karen's career was marked by dedication and hard work. She worked as a financial clerk for the City of Hot Springs for twenty-three years. In addition to her role in the finance department, she also assisted in municipal court and at the water company and was known for taking on multiple jobs simultaneously.

Having attended Bismark High School, Karen valued education and continuous learning. She believed in the importance of expanding one's knowledge and encouraged others to do the same. She was also a dedicated Christian and attended Legacy Church before her illness.

Karen was characterized by several admirable qualities. She was widely known for being a hard worker with an exceptional sense of humor. Her wit and quick thinking would bring smiles to the faces of those around her. Additionally, Karen was highly intelligent and had a remarkable ability to problem-solve with efficiency and creativity.

Beyond her professional life, Karen had a wide range of hobbies and interests. She found solace in playing computer games, especially solitaire, additionally, Karen found great delight in traveling and embarking on road trips with loved ones. Exploring new places brought curiosity and excitement into her life. Moreover, Karen also had an immense affection for little dogs and the company they brought her.

The family would like to thank Montgomery Co. nursing home for their excellent care and patience through this process.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Funeral services will be held on January 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM officiated by Danny Haynes in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.  Visitation will be 1:00 PM, prior to the service.

Interment will be in Oma cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Oma Cemetery Fund C/O Geraidine Weatherford 4200 S. Pearcy Rd. Pearcy, AR 71964.
