Ms. Karyn Sue Walker Averitt, of Houston, Texas passed on December 26, 2015. She was born in North Little Rock, Arkansas, the beautiful daughter of William Mason Walker and Marie Tolleson Walker. After graduating from North Little Rock High School as Secretary of her senior class, Karyn attended Arkansas State University, where she enjoyed being a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. With great accomplishment, she graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, as a Doctor of Pharmacy. After graduation, she started her pharmacy career in Kansas City, Missouri, and then worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma before managing Revco Drug Stores in Charlotte, North Carolina. After having twin girls, she moved to Arkansas to be close to her family where she started a real-estate business, Averitt & Associates Real Estate Co., flipping houses and received her brokers and real estate licenses. In addition to pharmacy and real estate, one of her most fulfilling careers was acting. As a member of the Screen Actors Guild, she acted as a principal in the movie Winter People with Lloyd Bridges and Kurt Russell. Later in life, she moved with her family to Houston, Texas and worked for many years as a co-owner and Vice President of an international specialty metals company, Alloy Tubes & Metals International, Inc.
Karyn's greatest pride and joy were her twin daughters, Kameron Marie and Walker Alexis. But, of greatest importance was her love for Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Mason Walker and Marie Tolleson Walker.
Karyn is survived by her daughter, Kameron Swithin and husband Eric of Houston, Texas, her daughter, Walker Averitt of Houston, Texas, one brother, William Mark Walker and wife Rosemary of Sherwood, one nephew, William Mark Walker II of Sherwood, and one niece, Stephanie Walker of Sherwood.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 1:30 pm on December 29th, in the Chapel at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services (12:30-1:30).
