Katherine Reeves

February 6, 1946 — August 17, 2023

Katherine Reeves, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was born on February 6, 1946, in Deer Park, Texas, to her parents, Katherine (Lee) Reeves and Lenard Reeves. Katherine had a deep love for animals, becoming a respected animal trainer across several states. Her career had many highlights including working for the New York City Police Department as a trainer of several canine canines.

Throughout her life, Katherine found immense joy in various hobbies and interests. However, her unique gift of connecting with animals, especially dogs and horses, developed into an extinctive animal whisperer ability. Her understanding and communication with them displayed her compassionate nature. In her free time, Katherine enjoyed fishing in Mazarn Creek and other water bodies and tending to her garden and household plants. She loved the beauty of nature and in it found solace.

More than anything else, Katherine's faith played a vital role in her life. She was deeply devoted to her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith provided her with strength and guided her actions and interactions with others, through life’s difficulties and triumphs.

Katherine's devotion extended beyond her love for animals, nature and Christian faith. She cherished her family and friends dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Lee, father, Lenard Reeves, and brother, Lenard Reeves. She is survived by her niece, Christi Craig, niece, Angela Reeves, first cousin, Janet Epperson, and a multitude of cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss her immensely.

Katherine Reeves’ legacy is the dedication, compassion and love she shared with those close to her, and of course her fondness of her personal dogs, Dixie and Peaches. Kathy is remembered as a kind-hearted and gentle individual who brought comfort to both humans and animals alike.

As we mourn the loss of Katherine Reeves, let us also celebrate the impact she had on our lives. May we honor her memory by embracing her compassionate spirit and continuing to spread love and kindness within our own communities. Rest in peace, Katherine Reeves, knowing that you have left behind a profound and lasting legacy.
