Kenneth Zane Miller was born on September 27, 1926, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Louis Vernon Miller (d. 1985) and Zena Maurine Grammer Miller (d. 2000). He passed away on August 7, 2025. He had one sibling, Twila Miller Smith (d. 2022).
Ken married the love of his life, Arlette Nevene Wilson, on September 3, 1950. They almost made it to the 75-year mark of their marriage!
Ken and Arlette had three children; Vicky Lynn Miller (July 7, 1951 – May 24, 2007), Terry Carolyn Miller Greenway (Gregg) of Maumelle, and Marty Glenn Miller, of Farmers Branch, TX. Besides Arlette, Terry, and Marty, Ken is survived by 6 grandchildren: Travis Miller Greenway of Benton, Drew Randall Greenway of Waco, TX, Stephen Austin Miller of Agoura Hills, CA, Kristen Paige Miller of Tempe, AZ, Alyssa Brooke Miller Schmitter of Marion Township, Maine, and Jeffrey Alexander Miller of Farmers Branch, TX. Ken is also survived by 7 great–grandchildren: Ryland, James, Theodore, and Henry Schmitter; Shep, Reeves, and Zane Greenway.
Ken graduated from Fort Worth Polytechnic High School. He graduated with a BA from Howard Payne College, and an MBA from the University of Texas, Austin.
Ken retired from his job as CPA (Plant Controller) for TIMEX Corporation in 1982. He started with TIMEX in Abilene, TX in 1957, and finished his career with TIMEX in Little Rock. He took an early retirement, and subsequently traveled with Arlette throughout the United States in an RV.
One of Ken’s greatest sources of pride was serving in the military. He was an Aircraft Electronics Technician in the United States Navy, serving in 1945 and 1946.
After retirement, Ken had a goal of becoming involved in meaningful outside work. It was achieved in March, 1989, when he and Arlette joined Arkansas Baptists’ Nailbenders for Jesus, doing renovation and construction work at church-related facilities for four years.
He was a faithful member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. One of his favorite pastimes throughout his life was gathering around the piano and singing gospel songs, and listening to gospel quartets.
Ken had a favorite scripture that he believed and built his life around: Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.” To quote Ken: “Our Lord’s desire is that men accept and walk in His way.” Ken further said, “As I think of the roadway leading to an eternity in the presence of our Lord, I am reminded of a songbook called ‘Heavenly Highways’.
"Choosing heavenly highways for going down the valley is life’s most important decision if one wants to enjoy getting ever nearer home.”
There will be a visitation held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 12th at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, followed by a memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM. Ken will be laid to rest at Acton Cemetery in Granbury, TX.
