Kenneth Wayne Tankersley, affectionately known as Kenny, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on March 9, 1954, in Little Rock to William Tankersley and Louise Wimberley, Kenny filled his life with a dedication to family, hard work, and a zest for life’s simplest pleasures.
Kenny devoted over 25 years of his career to Georgia Pacific, embodying a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence that defined his professional life. He graduated from England High School where he not only excelled academically but also fostered a love for football, serving as the team manager during his high school years. His contributions on and off the field reflected a character that was highly regarded by his peers.
His personal life was characterized by a deep affection for family and friends. Kenny married Karen Rudd in 1981, sharing a life marked by the joys of parenthood with their two sons, Josh and Ben. Following a loving 17-year marriage, he later united with Glenda Tankersley in 2001, with whom he celebrated 24 years of companionship. Kenny often expressed immense pride in his family, and his love for his two grandsons, Chanler and Daxton, was particularly evident. His infectious enthusiasm for life was marked by simple yet heartfelt traditions, such as the way he began conversations with his children: “Hey, this is your dad.” This sentiment resonates as a cherished memory for them.
Kenny’s interests extended to the great outdoors, where he found joy in hunting and fishing. His love for good food was equally notable, with a special fondness for Chinese cuisine—Egg Roll Express being his favorite dining spot. Friends and family will fondly remember the quirky, warm-hearted man who never met a stranger. He had a knack for seeing the good in everyone he encountered, remaining a loyal and steadfast friend throughout his life.
Kenny lived a life anchored in faith, faithfully serving as a devoted member of Cedar Heights Baptist Church. His love for the Lord shaped his days, his character, and the way he cared for others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Tankersley; his sons, Josh and Ben Tankersley (LeeAnna); his brothers, Bobby (Mary), Freddie (Doris), Doyle, Wesley (Sandy), and Jimmy (Pat) Tankersley; and his grandsons, Chanler and Daxton Tankersley. Kenny is preceded in death by his father, William Tankersley; his mother, Louise Wimberley; his step-father, Ned Wimberley; his sister, Linda Coffman (Eddie); and his brother, Len Tankersley.
Kenny's passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of his family and friends, but his spirit, kindness, and passion for life will be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral services for Kenny will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 6pm-8pm. A viewing will be held December 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. The family welcomes all who knew Kenny to join in honoring his life and memory.
