Kermit W. White, age 95, of Daisy, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013. He was born on February 7, 1918, at Daisy, the son of Benjamin Hester White and Hattie Pearl Cook White. He was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his son, Ruth Austin White, on January 9, 1983. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Pauline White Ward; and his infant brother. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a proud 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Buffalo Gap Lodge, #484 in Langley. He was a member of the Daisy Church of Christ, a businessman and carpenter, and an avid outdoorsman who always enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his best friend, Willie O'Neal. He is survived by his wife, Vernelle White of Hopper; his son, Kenny White of Newhope; one stepdaughter, Mary Cude of Hopper; two grandsons, Chris White and Jamie White, both of Nashville; one step-granddaughter, Julia Dunham of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Ethan and Meghann; one niece, Toni Kelly of Kirby; his special cousins; his very loving constant companion, Teddy; and a host of wonderful friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 13, 2013, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Harold Vaughn and Jack Gardner officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, prior to the services. Interment with military honors will be in the Mount Joy Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Brad Garner, Ronnie Hunter, Kenneth Young, Jeffrey Hill, Tony Davis and Ronnie O'Neal. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
