Kerney âBudâ Alvin Strickland was born in Beaumont, Tx. on October 27, 1945. He was the youngest of 4 and the only boy so he had his work cut out for him growing up.
Being raised in Mountain View, Ar. fostered a love of outdoors, fishing, and hunting. His tendency to seek fun and adventure led him to join the Navy in 1964. As a radio operator he had a chance to prove his mettle during Vietnam. Before he was through he earned several commendation ribbons, Vietnam campaign medal, Bronze Star, National Defense service medal, and a Purple Heart. He joined the Navy Seebees after his campaign during Vietnam.
He was a loving husband, stepfather, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He liked to scuba dive, watch western movies relax at home with his dogs, and was fascinated by the old time gangsters. He also loved to laugh and was generous to a fault.
He will be sorely missed by those he left behind, which include: wife Patsy (Gray) Strickland, stepchildren Marie (Jeremy) Land, Angela (David) Undiener, and Vernon (Berenice) Waskas, sister Norma Davis from League City, Tx., nephew Robert McClamore from Jasper, Tx, 12 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Bud passed on to his heavenly reward in Little Rock, Ar. on January 15, 2018 â to his joy and our sorrow.
