Lanny Nordin, 77, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on October 31, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1949, to Evertt and Mildred Nordin.

Lanny spent his career working in systems administration for the State of Arkansas. He loved golf, fishing, spending time in nature, and cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. Easygoing, with a sarcastic sense of humor, Lanny enjoyed sharing time and laughter with those he loved. His beloved dog, Jessie, was his faithful companion for nearly 11 years.

To his granddaughters, Emma and Nora, he was simply “Papaw,” and they loved him dearly. He loved watching Emma’s volleyball games and Nora’s dance recitals. Watching volleyball alongside his daughter, Erica, and their annual tradition of going together to cut down a Christmas tree created memories she will always treasure.

Lanny was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Nordin; his parents, Evertt and Mildred Nordin; and his brother, Evertt Nordin Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Erica Owens, and her husband, Brandon; his granddaughters, Emma and Nora Owens; his twin brother, Danny Nordin, and his wife Cindy; his sister, Julie Nordin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also leaves behind his loving companion, Jan Brown, who brought many adventures and much joy to his life during their two years together.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home in Sherwood, Arkansas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherwood Animal Shelter in Lanny’s memory.

Lanny will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
