Laura Bell Swope, 89, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. She was born on January 13, 1937, to Homer Luther Hale and Frances Josephine (Smith) Hale in Jacksonville, AR. Laura lived a life centered on faith, family, and serving others, leaving a legacy of kindness and compassion that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Lee Swope; her son, Sammie Swope; and her grandson, Robert Bell.
She is survived by her loving children, Georgia, Matt, Roger, and Ann; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her brothers, Lewis Hale of Cabot, Arkansas, and Paul Hale of North Carolina; her sisters, Beverly Ann Cole of Searcy, Arkansas, and Martha Williams of Jacksonville, Arkansas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and treasured friends.
Laura spent her early life in Jacksonville. She graduated from Jacksonville High School. Her time in Jacksonville with her family was formative to the woman she became.
Laura faithfully volunteered for 14 years, contributing more than 3,500 hours of service at the Springhill Gift Shop. She also retired from Kellwood in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Joanna’s World in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Whether through her work, volunteer efforts, or everyday interactions, Laura was known for her caring spirit, warm smile, and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Laura was a devoted member of First Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock. Her steadfast faith guided her throughout her life and was evident in the love and encouragement she shared with her family, friends, and church community.
Laura found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She treasured every gathering, celebrated each milestone with enthusiasm, and delighted in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow. Her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and servant’s spirit will be remembered with deep love and gratitude.
Visitation will be held at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (1921 Main Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72114) on Friday, August 7, 2026, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Park (7401 Highway 5 North, Alexander, Arkansas 72002).
Laura’s family is comforted by the countless memories she leaves behind and the assurance that her life was one of purpose, faith, and love. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
