Leeatrice Howard Furr age 81 of Friendship went to be with the Lord on
July 7,2015. She was born January 9, 1934 the daughter of Luke and Estie Howard. Leeatrice was employed at Levis Strauss for over 20 years and later retired from the Arkadelphia Human Development Center. She served as Alderman on the Friendship City Council and was instrumental in the development of the Friendship City Park. She was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Russell Furr and her son Gary Furr.
Survivors include one son, Russ (Tonya) Furr of Friendship, two daughters, Rhonda (Dewayne) Smith of Pocahontas, Karen Kight and Dale Kight of Hot Springs, one sister Francis Jo Hendrix Dolen of Smyrna, eight grandchildren, Hayley Furr, Riley Furr, Truston Furr, Tanner Furr, Brandon Smith, Brooke Rickey, Dr. Tyler Kight, and Asher Kight, three great grandchildren, Cohen Smith, Avery Walls, and Halle Jo Rickey. Her brother and sister in laws: Venette Burnett, Wilton and Catherine Furr, Hoy and Ruby Furr, and Wayne and Barbara Furr and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 13th in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia with Bishop Dewayne Smith and Sister Connie Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Gilchrist Cemetery in Friendship. Visitation will be 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Smith, Asher Kight, Dr. Tyler Kight, Dale Kight, Mike Catlett, Mike Hendrix, Ronnie Crawley, and Mike Burnett. Honorary Pallbearers are Truston Furr, Tanner Furr, Cohen Smith, Wilton Furr, Hoy Furr, Wayne Furr, Casey Rickey, and caregiver Kristi Snearly, Gentiva Hospice, special nurse Katie Martin and the Okolona Class of
1951.
