Leona Brockinton

Leona Josephine Brockinton, 85, of Jacksonville went home to be with Jesus, August 27, 2024. She was born April 1, 1939 in Jacksonville, AR to the late Joe and Viola Crook. She had five siblings who also preceded her in death: Claudie Crook, James Crook, Ola Mae Bradley, Clidie Davenport and Lucille Roberts.

Leona retired from the Pulaski County Special School District where she served as the cafeteria manager for 20 years. After retirement, she gracefully served her community, alongside her family, at Ray’s Catfish Cabin for ten years.

Family was everything to Leona. She enjoyed camping, and the lake, but best of all was spending quality time with her kids and grandkids.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Raymon Brockinton; three children: Gary Brockinton (Joy), Bobby Brockinton (Sheila) and Brenda Mothershed (Jason); ten grandchildren: Gary Joe Brockinton, Jessica McBay, Joshua Brockinton, Cory Brockinton, Kristen McElroy, Kelly Jones, Clayton Brockinton, Ronni Behrends, Cody Brockinton and Breanna Mothershed; ten great-grandchildren: Kensley Brockinton, Noah Brockinton, Westin Brockinton, Colton Brockinton, Kayla McBay, Gunner Brockinton, Oakley Brockinton, Ethan McElroy, Emalyn Jones and Jackson Cassidy; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. A special thank you to our “adopted” family member, Shelley Meek, for her exceptional love and care for our sweet mother.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, followed by the funeral at 3:00 PM, Friday, August 30, 2024 at Bayou Meto Baptist Church, Jacksonville. Interment will follow at Bayou Meto Cemetery. Pallbearers include:  Gary, Clayton, Cody, Joshua, Gunner and Colton Brockinton.  Ethan McElroy is the honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bayou Meto Baptist Church.
