Leona Kay Jennings-Mickel

Leona Kay Jennings-Mickel, a cherished mother and beloved friend, was born on December 26, 1950, in Texarkana, Arkansas, and left this world on October 22, 2025. Leona’s life was beautifully woven with love, creativity, and joy, celebrating the moments that truly mattered—especially those shared with her family during the holidays.

Her love of water showed through in her favorite pastime of fishing, a relaxing escape that brought her immense joy. Whether sitting by the lakeside or sketching scenes from nature, her artistic soul captured the beauty around her.

Leona was known for her signature flip-flops and a warm cup of coffee in hand throughout the seasons, a simple yet endearing facet that brought smiles to those who knew her.

Leona was a devoted mother to her children—Tresa Norman, Ellen May (Ron), Sarena Newcomb (Josh), and Bryan Mickel—who will forever cherish the memories made together. She was also a proud Nanny and great-grand Nanny. She is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Adams, Jeannette Jennings, and Denise Jennings, along with her brother, Ricky Jennings, remember her not just as family but as a friend, confidante, and a source of boundless love. The laughter they shared and the support they offered will forever echo in their hearts.

Leona now reunites with her parents, Richard and Joan Jennings, as well as her sisters, Vickie Semety and Sherri Jennings, and her great-grandson, Mason, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

As we reflect on Leona's beautiful life, we find solace in the countless memories she created, the love she shared, and the remarkable legacy she leaves behind.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home (8801 Knoedl Court) with a funeral service following at 3:00 PM.
