Leonard Biggs, of Little Rock, died July 8th, 2017. He was born in Little Rock on August 25, 1936 to Barbara (Thompson) and Ferrell Biggs. Leonard graduated from Little Rock (Central) High School in 1954 and continued his education at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. While in Fayetteville he met his wife to be, Marsha Jones, also of Little Rock. They wed in 1961 and enjoyed 56 years together. Marsha and Leonard had three children and raised them in Crossett, AR while Leonard worked as a mechanical engineer for the Georgia Pacific Paper Company.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and a host of aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Marsha; children, Michael Biggs (Laurie) of Little Rock, Tommy Biggs of Crossett and Barbara Perrier (Bart) of Beebe; and nine grandchildren, Ian Biggs, Christian and Margo Biggs, Patrick Biggs, Kelley Biggs, Payton Perrier, Jay Perrier, Christian Perrier and Grace Perrier.
He served his community and nation as a Boy Scout and an officer in the Air Force National Guard. He served the Lord as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Crossett, and where needed at Little Rock First Baptist Church. He was a faithful participant in Bible Study Fellowship and his Wednesday morning men's study group.
Leonard was first and foremost a servant leader filled with joy. His life was a living testimony of how he loved and cared for his wife and children. No task was beneath him as he provided for his family and served his community. As a husband, he put his wife first, selflessly loving her in actions and words. As a father, he was engaged with his children and passed along his faith through consistent application of Biblical principles. Leonard was a gracious and engaging host; his laugh and smile were contagious. Quick with a joke, and quick to laugh at jokes, he was an inclusive soul. Accepting others for who they were was his way of loving his neighbor. All who knew Leonard were cheered up with his humming and whistling. He was a Godly man, a loving husband and father, and a good friend. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on July 12th at First Baptist Church Little Rock. Visitation at 10:00 will proceed the 11:00 a.m. service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to either First Baptist Church Crossett, 701 Main Street, Crossett, AR 71635 or Little Rock First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR 72212.
