Leota Tucker Atkins, age 96 of Arkadelphia, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab. She was born February 16, 1920, in Clark County Arkansas to Eula Pyle Tucker and James Samuel Tucker of the Richwoods Community.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Loy T. Atkins, two infant sons, and two sons-in law, as well as one brother and three sisters.
She is survived by two daughters, Eula Jackson (Carroll) and CaroIyn Bell both of Arkadelphia; three sons, Jim Atkins (Brenda) of Murfreesboro, Keith Atkins (Susan) of Memphis, TN, and Alan Atkins (Hope) of Little Rock; eight grandchildren, Kellye, Jeremy, Amber, Ryan, Aaron, Karah, Zackary and Cole; six great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Kelsey, Kenzie, Tyler, Will, and Tom; one great-great grandson, John Paxton; two sisters, Edith Dixon of Bismarck and Frances Callaway of Curtis.
She was a member of Third Street Baptist Church and a special friend of First United Methodist Church and Shiloh Baptist Church.
The family extends a special thanks to the administrator and employees of Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation for their excellent, compassionate and loving care for our mother's final days.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, September 30th at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1st at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home; burial will follow at Richwoods Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations will be appreciated for the Richwoods Cemetery Fund c/o Nicky Todd;170 Mt. Zion Road ,Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
