Lillian M. Childress, age 89, of Arkadelphia, died Tuesday October 11, 2011. She was born March 2, 1922 in Lenox Community (near Alpine), Clark County, the daughter of the late Wiley K. and Georgia Bryant Fendley. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gwendlyn Fendley, Nannie Lola Fendley, and Stella Lackey. Mrs. Childress was a Baptist.
She was a retired seamstress. She also worked for the Human Development Center and later operated a child care business. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working in her flowerbed, and traveling.

She is survived by one son, R. David Childress, of Little Rock one daughter, Frances Childress, of Arkadelphia, four brothers, D.A. Fendley and Gerald Fendley of the Lenox Community, Laymon Fendley of Bismarck, and Rueben Fendley of Arkadelphia; three sisters Gladys Pelham of Texas, Frauline Mathis of Sherwood, and Julia Garrett of Arkadelphia; a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends.

No visitation is planned. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia, Arkansas In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels at 1311 North 10th. St. Arkadelphia, AR. 71923.
