Lloyd Don Howerton, 85, of Greenbrier, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026, following a four-year struggle with serious health issues.
Lloyd was born June 28, 1941, in Dumas, Arkansas, to D. A. and Josephine Howerton, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Hot Springs High School and went on to earn degrees from Southern State University, the University of Arkansas, and the University of Houston. Throughout his career, Lloyd worked as a teacher and later as a manager and owner of several businesses, including Radio Shack, Otter Creek Video, and Computer Management Systems Inc.
Lloyd had a lifelong interest in electronics and technology and took great enjoyment in his work and, especially, the many friendships he made along the way. He was known as a kind and gentle soul whose quiet nature and caring spirit touched those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Moore Howerton; his son, Kirk Lloyd Howerton; his cousin, Jacqueline (Wilbert) Bates; sister-in-law, Cherry Canada; and brother-in-law, Ronnie Moore.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Brookdale Assisted Living and Greenbrier Nursing and Rehabilitation for the compassionate care Lloyd received during his final years.
Lloyd's life will be celebrated by family and friends at a later date.
