Lois Clifton

Lois Douglass Clifton, 94, of North Little Rock, passed to Heaven on January 12, 2020. She was born on August 8, 1925, to the late Horace “Booker” and Gena Williford Douglas. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, her sister, and two beloved sons, Lt. Commander (U.S. Navy) Lowell D. “Cliff” Clifton, and Robert D. Clifton.

Surviving family include her daughter in law, LaDonna Clifton Monsees, (wife of Cliff) and grandchildren, Holly (Zach) Britton; great-grandchildren, Ian, Adria, Elias, and Ellie Britton, Eric Clifton (Tanya) and great-granddaughters, Tessa and Marley Clifton; daughter, Gena Clifton Norris; granddaughter, Kimberly Walker (Will); great-grandsons, Matthew and Jonathan Walker; grandson, Charles C. Norris (Jade), grandson, J. Thomas Norris (Elizabeth), great-granddaughter, Addison Norris; son, Darrell F. Clifton; grandchildren (Robert’s), Jessie Clifton, Zeb Clifton; granddaughter, Shawna Clifton Bishop; great-grandchildren, Hiro Bishop and Birklie Kimbrel; and her nieces, Bobbi (Ed) Tabor and Billie Sue Reed; and nephews, Steven (LeeAnn) Spears, Tommy (Ada) Spears, and Mike (Margie) Spears.

She received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education and taught kindergarten for several years for the NLR School District. Prior to receiving her degree, she taught piano lessons for many years. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and was past president of the Beta Mu Chapter. Lois was also a member of the Arkansas Literacy Society and Arkansas Genealogical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Prudence Hall Chapter. She was honorary President of the Arkansas Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Arkansas Pioneers, and the Florence Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Lois was a Master Gardener. She also loved to travel and could be found on mission trips with the Baptist Campers on Mission and the Good Sam’s Club. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years serving faithfully in the Sanctuary Choir and several Mission Programs, including the Turban Ministry. She was always proud to provide turbans to the patients undergoing cancer treatment.

Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregiver for the last three years, her niece,Tracy Tematick.

A visitation will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following. A private burial will be held at Bayou Meto Cemetery.
