Lois Welch, age 85, of Rose Hill, Kansas, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023.

She was born on October 19, 1938, in Cicero, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle Hamilton Parker and Mable Caroline Schiffer Parker. She was preceded in death by her caring husband, Hermigene Welch; and her parents.

Lois worked for 27 years for the Glenwood Herald before retiring in 2003 at the age of 65 years old after having a great career in the newspaper industry.  She loved to attend musicals, dances, and the Opera.  You could find her working on a good puzzle in her off time.  Above all, her family meant the world to her.  She was an excellent cook and will be fondly remembered by the family for her homemade gravy and fried chicken in a cast iron skillet.  Lois will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Christi and Mike King of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, Cliff and Kathy Welch of Cabot, and Ida and Mark Reed of Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Regina (William) Ashby of Crossett, Jeremy King of Angier, North Carolina, Amy (Eric) Eastwood of Byers, Colorado, Eric Welch of Cabot, Andrew (Kylie) Corlis of Derby, Kansas, Rebekah Reed and Reagan Reed, both of Wichita, Kansas; eight great-grandchildren, Andre, Will, Danell, Cameron, Caleb, Olivia, Liam and Lawson; extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services will be 3:00PM, Thursday, November 2, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Interment in the Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2:00PM-3:00PM, prior to the service.
