Lonnie Roy Young, age 86, of Black Springs, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026.

He was born on September 29, 1939, in Black Springs. He was the son of Joel Roy Young and Bertha Caldonia Black Young. He was preceded in death by his parents; his five sisters, Mag Dibblee, Dot Graves, Barbara Wornick, Sue Ledbetter, and Joleda Wornick; and his granddaughter, Samantha Joann.

Lonnie married the love of his life, Margaret Laverne Morrow Young, on June 9, 1961. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, going to the races, and working on machinery. He had an amazing work ethic and raised a farm for many years. Most of all, Lonnie loved being "papaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lonnie was a loving husband, father, papaw, brother, uncle, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Margaret Young of Black Springs; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Self of Searcy; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Shannon Young of Benton, Joel and Haleigh Young of Black Springs, and Samuel and Julie Young of Black Springs; his ten grandchildren and their spouses, Rebekah and Steven Reilly, Rachel and Derek Brown, Tyler Young, Rayce Young, Peyton Black, Layne Young, Madison Young, Ashton Young, Morgan Young, and AJ Young; his two great-grandsons, Lucas Reilly and Kade Brown; his brother, Ron Young; his sister, Helen Robertson; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Young, Rayce Young, Joey Black, Larry Black, Dwight Shields, and Robert Shields.

Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Murphy Baptist Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Self officiating.
