Lonnie Lee Whisenhunt

Lonnie Lee Whisenhunt, age 80, of Amity, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 6, 2023, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 17, 1943, in Lucky, AR, in the Mount Tabor Community of Montgomery County.  Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Doris Roberts.  On December 27, 1962, Lonnie married the love of his life, Betty Louise Porter.

Lonnie was a member of the Glenwood First Assembly of God Church.  For over twenty-one years, he worked as a pipeline welder until tragedy struck in 1978, when a work-related accident left him paralyzed, creating Lonnie to face unimaginable challenges.  However, throughout all of his hardships and despite his disability, Lonnie never allowed it to control him.  Instead, he always strived to move forward and live his best life with the greatest attitude and caring personality.  Lonnie was a powerful inspiration to everyone who knew him and respected him for never giving up, and he took every opportunity to show just what you can accomplish, regardless of any disability.

He always enjoyed woodworking, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.  Lonnie's life was an extraordinary one, defined by resilience, love, and a positive spirit that touched many hearts. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, whose memory will live on through the stories and cherished moments shared with those he loved.

Lonnie is survived by his loving wife, Betty Whisenhunt of Amity; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Willie Knighten of Foreman and Tammy and Wally Boone of Benton; his three grandchildren, Brandon Davidson and his wife, Megan, Kristen Davis, and Lacey Knight; his three great-grandchildren, Heavenly Davis, Kyndall Bailey, and Cameron Walker, Jr.; his siblings and their spouses, Freda and Bobby Williams of Glenwood, Gene and Kathy Whisenhunt of Little Rock, and Robin and Wesley Miller of Hot Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of wonderful friends.
