Loretta Caldwell

Loretta Ann Caldwell (Woodard), a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 28, 2026, at the age of 83. Loretta lived a life defined by an extraordinary capacity to love, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone blessed enough to know her.

Born in the Mena, Arkansas, Loretta grew into a woman of profound grace, humility, and unwavering faith. As a dedicated schoolteacher within the Kirby, Glenwood, and Lake Hamilton School Districts, she spent thirty years shaping the minds and futures of countless children. For Loretta, teaching was not just a career, but an extension of her naturally giving soul.

To her family, Loretta was everything. She loved her family and stood as the steady, quiet anchor through every season of life. She was the epitome of kindness, always placing the needs, comfort, and happiness of others entirely before her own. To have been loved by Loretta was to know a love without conditions or limits.

Loretta was reunited in Heaven with her cherished parents, Lloyd and Jewell Woodard of Glenwood, Arkansas.

Her beautiful legacy of love and devotion lives on through her husband of 36 years, Richard Caldwell; her beloved son, Landon LaFevers, and daughter, Amanda LaFevers; and her sons, Bryan Caldwell and Tony Caldwell (Tammy). Her grandchildren Rhiannon Edwards, Christian Edwards, Dalton Davis, Zayne Louton, Erika Barrett, Gunner Caldwell, Zoe Caldwell, and David Caldwell—will forever carry the warmth of their grandmother's blessing. She is also survived by her loving brothers, Vernon Woodard of Murfreesboro and Rodney Woodard (Dianne) of Glenwood, as well as a beautiful tapestry of nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members and lifelong friends who feel her absence deeply.

Services to celebrate beautiful life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs on Friday, October 2nd at 2 p.m. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 1st from 5 – 7 pm.

Escorting Loretta to her final rest as pallbearers will be her family members who proudly carry her memory: Dalton Davis, Christian Edwards, Zayne Louton, and Tony Caldwell, Keith Davis, Gunner Caldwell, and Bryan Caldwell.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are her beloved brothers, Vernon Woodard and Rodney Woodard.

Loretta’s gentle spirit, her patient heart, and the quiet strength that held her family together will never be forgotten. Her family rests in the comforting assurance that she is now wrapped in the eternal embrace of the Lord she served so faithfully.
