Lorna Arlene Duggan Hood, age 74, of Amity, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Lorna was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully.
Lorna was born on January 3, 1947, the daughter of James Oatsie Sorrells and Verdia Maye Jackson Sorrells. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronnie Duggan; her second husband, Kenneth Hood; her parents; and her sister, Judy Sorrells Cogburn.
A 1964 graduate of Amity High School, Lorna would graduate in 1987 from Quapaw Vo-Tech with a degree in nursing. After graduation, she went on to pursue a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse that spanned thirty-four years and Lorna would love every minute of it. She was Baptist in her faith.
Our mother was a wonderful, loving mother who gave her all to her family. She was the most beautiful, strongest, kindest, most courageous woman to ever walk this Earth. Our family was blessed to have her as the head of our family. We will never be able to fill the space left behind by her.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Ronald Scott of Danville, Lisa Cook of Amity and Rodney Cook of Amity; four grandsons, Ronnie Trott of Cincinnati, Ohio, Michael Gargis, Jr. of Malvern, Rusty (Ariel) Cook of Amity and Ronald Scott of Copperas Cove, Texas; three granddaughters, Brandi (Garrie) Gordon of San Antonio, Texas, Kendra (Kainan) Staggs of Amity and Brooklyn Cook of Amity; twenty-four great-grandchildren; her special friend, Bobby Sikes of Benton; her brother, James Alfred Sorrells of Dalark; her sister, Jean Annette (Harlan Short) Sorrells of Glenwood; three brothers-in-law, Gene Cogburn of Kirby, Harold (Faye) Hood of Mooresville, Mississippi and Bruce (Pat) Hood of Pearcy; her sister-in-law, Sue (Roy) Wisener of Black Springs; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Bro. Lee Davis officiating.
Visitation will be Monday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Cremation will follow the services.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Trott, Michael Gargis, Jr., Rusty Cook, Kainan Staggs, Michael Duggan, Dallas Wisener, Jason Cogburn and Scott Cook.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Timothy English, Dr. Scott Featherston, Dr. Stephen Divers, Dr. E. T. Warren and the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice.
The family will be at 152 Gladys Road, Amity, Arkansas 71921.
