Lottie Garner Petifer, age 97, of Amity, died Thursday, November 3, 2011. She was born on June 1, 1914, at Amity, the daughter of Claude J. Garner and Neva Dafford Garner. She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Charles Garner, Earl Garner, Clyde Garner, Pat Garner, Willard Garner, Vance Garner and Ben Garner; and one sister, Sue Thomason. Lottie was the oldest living member of Amity First Baptist Church. She was employed for over 30 years with Amity Public Schools. Lottie enjoyed quilting, attending the Glenwood Senior Adult Center, going to gospel singings and watching sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and Dallas Cowboys. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Richard Thomas of Little Rock; three sisters-in-law, Pauline Garner of Lompoc, California, Doris Mae Garner of Trophy City, Texas and Lila Garner of Lincoln, Nebraska; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Jerry Thomason of Amity. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 6, 2011, in the Amity First Baptist Church with Bro. John McAnally officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Jones Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Pallbearers will be Wick Howell, Jody Cowart, Gerald Loyd, Robbie Dale Wilson, Curt Bean and Gary Bean. Memorials may be made to the Jones Cemetery Association, c/o Dora Lee Bean, 316 N.
