Louella Rowton Hawthorn

Louella Rowton Hawthorn, age 75, of Okalona, passed from this life on September 20, 2023. She was born on June 29, 1948, in Dumas, Arkansas the daughter of Floyd Abernathy and Delma Reed Abernathy.

She was preceded in death by her son, Vance Rowton, her brother, Thurman Abernathy, her first husband Floyd Douglas Rowton, and her second husband Howard. W. Hawthorn, her sister Louise Peterson, and a grandson Douglas Palmer.

Louella was a member of the Extension Homemaker’s Council in Glenwood. She attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years. She took great pride in being a housewife and homemaker and it showed by how much she loved her family. Louella also enjoyed spending time fishing and enjoying God’s creation whenever she was given the chance.

She is survived by her children, Scotty (Angel) Rowton, and Carrie (Ben) Palmer; stepchildren, Wayne (Karrie Ann) Hawthorn, and Chris (April) Hawthorn; grandchildren, Johnny (Harlie) Rowton, Ann Nicole (Kyle) Petty, Megan Rowton, Spencer (Leslie) Palmer, Emily Palmer, Rachel Palmer, Heber Palmer, David Palmer, Joseph Palmer, Benson Palmer, Lucas Hawthorn, Glen (Gail) Hawthorn, Emily Hawthorn, Morgan (Wade) Wilson, and Megan (Joseph) Barnello; her great-grandchildren, Blakelie Rowton, Wylla Rowton, James Petty, Morgan Petty, and Oliver Barnello and Macie Wilson.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 29, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood, 209 North 3rd St. Glenwood, AR 71943.

Services to celebrate Louella’s life will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Glenwood on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 10:30 AM.

The interment will be at Gaston Cemetery in Mount Ida.

The pallbearers will be Johnny Rowton, Kyle Petty, Dale Hill, Spencer Palmer, David Palmer, and Joseph Palmer.

Honorary pallbearers include Chip Holmes, Heber Palmer, and Dakota Goodwin.
