Louise Featherston Lane

Louise “Lou” Featherston Lane, age 95, of Little Rock, passed away on October 11, 2023. She was born on October 1, 1928, in Norman, AR to Elijah and Rose Featherston.

Lou leaves us with a legacy of caring, humor and intelligence.  She knew no stranger and cared so deeply for all those she leaves behind.  A life -long learner she had a myriad of interests which she exceled in.

She was a beloved member of St. James United Methodist Church and made significant contributions to her community. She held the distinction in the 1970’s of being the first female president of the Little Rock Racquet Club. Lou was known for her remarkable talent in pottery where she spent decades practicing and sharing her knowledge of the craft at the Arkansas Museum of Fine Art.    She was an avid tennis player and competitive sailor at the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club.  Just as she excelled in sailing and pottery she found great joy in preparing amazing meals-from the simplest to the most complex she was always a gourmet.   Her sewing skills were equally impressive as were her gardening skills.   It was said, “She could plant a rock and grow a mountain”.  And last, but by no means least, she was a skilled bridge player who loved her afternoon games and socializing with friends.

Lou is survived by her loving son Greg Lane and Amy Brotman of Austin, TX, eight grandchildren Hallie McElvery, Miles Lane, Mason Lane, Ella Brotman, Matthew Adleberg, Ian Adleberg, Ryan Larson, and Candace Adams; as well as seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends.

Lou is preceded in death by her husband Dr. John William Lane; son John W. Lane Jr; daughter Rebecca “Becky” Larson; parents; brother Clyde Featherson; and sister Virginia Haustein.

Please join family and friends for a celebration of Lou's life.  Saturday, November 25 at Trios Pavilion Room from 4-6
