Lowell Boyd Thacker of Hot Springs AR, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 8th, 2025. He was born in Nashville, AR to Lowell and Inez Boyd Thacker. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Smithwick Thacker on September 5th, 1969, in Pine Bluff, AR.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters Kathryn Wallace, DeNeva Ladd, and Mary Gann; brothers Steven Thacker, and Harold Thacker.
Survivors include Boyd's wife of 55 years, Carolyn; Daughters, Tracy Thacker (Rick), and Terah Thacker Bearden (David); Sister Debbie Carlisle; Brother, Steven Longinotti; Grandkids, Lauren Harvey Belk (Taylor), Drake Jester, Austin Bearden (Carley), Hunter Jester, and Bradley Bearden (Courtney); Bonus Grandkids, Chase Williams (Lauren); Great-Grandkids, Dawson Belk and Ruthy Bearden; Bonus Great-Grandkids, Wyatt and Walker Williams.
Boyd's greatest joy was spending time with his daughters, grandkids and recently great grandkids. He loved to work in the yard. He has been accused of taking a ruler to measure the grass, so it is perfect or catching the leaves as they fall off the trees.
He and his wife, Carolyn, liked to travel, especially to Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming. If you needed to find him in the mornings, he would be at Gregs Rise-N-Dine, making his opinion known. Boyd worked in construction in Oklahoma City and Pine Bluff, then for Cottonbelt Railroad in Pine Bluff. He served in the Army after his graduation.
Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home in Hot Springs, on August 13, 2025, at 2pm, with the service to follow at 3pm. Honorary Pallbearers include Tommy Calloway, Billy Spadoni, Mike Jester, Larry Keys, Ted Harps, and the Crew at Greg’s Rise-N-Dine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Judes Children’s Research Hospital.
