Loyd E. "Gene" Wheeler, age 86, of Mount Ida, died Thursday, January 30, 2014. He was born on October 27, 1927, in Mount Ida, the son of Earl C. Wheeler and Alta M. Pope Wheeler. He was retired after thirty years with the Corp of Engineers. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Jean and Allen Golden of Mount Ida and Nancy Jane and Thomas Allison of Siloam Springs. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 2, 2014, in the Owley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
