Lucille “Lou” Elizabeth Davis, 97, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 1, surrounded by loved ones at her home.
Lou was born June 8, 1926, in Shoal Creek, Ark., to Anton and Marie Duelmer. She moved when she was 18 to El Dorado, Ark., where she managed a clothing store and later worked at Arkla Gas Company. She was also active at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Lou married Wilbur Davis on April 7, 1952, and they built a life together in El Dorado for the next 57 years. After Wilbur’s death, Lou moved to North Little Rock to be closer to her family.
Lou was known for her love of the Arkansas Razorbacks, casinos, and the horse races in Hot Springs. Many weekends were spent at Lou’s Hot Springs condo, where she loved hosting family. She was famous among her nieces and nephews for her pound cakes and Italian cream cakes, which she lovingly baked for family holidays and get-togethers. We remember her most for her generosity and kindness.
Lou was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Henrietta Cathell and Irene Wright; and three brothers Gilbert Duelmer, Leon Duelmer, and Louis “Bud” Duelmer.
She is survived by three sisters, Vi Bogoslavsky of North Little Rock; Helen Garr of Keller, Texas; and Bobbie Faulk of North Little Rock; nephews, Kevin Tittle, Randy Wright, Abe Bogoslavsky, Bruce Bogoslavsky, Kenny Wright, Tony Garr, Jim Duelmer; nieces Janet Cathell, Debbie Harris, Jennifer Gartrell, Toni Duelmer, Donna Miller, Mitzi Cox, Samantha Duelmer, Amanda Colclasure, and Michelle Gaunt,; many great-nieces and -nephews, and her chihuahua Buddy. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lou’s caregivers, Mildred and Marie.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock, with a funeral Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in El Dorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Arkansas Hospice Foundation.
Arrangements by Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St, North Little Rock, AR 72114, 501-758-1170.--
