Mabel Freeman

Mabel Tate Freeman, age 96, of Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023.

She was born on April 29, 1927, in Hot Springs, the daughter of William and Stella Tate. She was preceded in death by her caring husband, Al Freeman; her parents; two sons, Al Cecil Lee Freeman and James Freeman; six sisters, Lola Golden, Irene Chatterton, Clara Betts, Patsy Thornton, Stella Glover and Mary Sue Bean; and her brother, Douglas Tate.

Mabel was the oldest of eight children, who had all gone on before her.  She was a beloved Mema who cared for others and in her later years fed many animals at her back door.  She worked as a beautician for 45 years, spending many hours on her feet making other women beautiful.  Mabel had a heart of gold and always made everyone feel special.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Donnie Freeman of Hot Springs; her grandchildren, Alicia Mendiola, John Freeman, Judy Sober, Jerod Freeman and Phillip Freeman; ten great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.  Visitation will be held at 9:00AM until 10:00AM, prior to the service.

Interment will be in the Lowe Cemetery.
