Madeline Jewel Dunlap

Madeline Jewel Dunlap, age 95, of Kirby, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017. She was born on August 25, 1921 at Center Valley, the daughter of Homer Jones and Norma Ewing Jones. On December 28, 1945, she married Ellis Dunlap who preceded her in death on January 22, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her grandson, Greggery Self. Madeline was the oldest living member of the Kirby Church of Christ. She worked at Dunlap Store and Kirby Restaurant for many years. She was very dedicated to her Lord and her family. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden, then canning or freezing them to later cook wonderful meals for her family and friends which she enjoyed so much. She made sure you never left her home hungry. She also enjoyed braiding rugs and quilting. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Mona Dunlap and her daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Blake Self, all of Kirby; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shane Self, Chris and Dianna Self, Jennifer and Don Bates and Jason Dunlap; five great-grandchildren, Dustin, Steven, Jon, Tyler and Brendon; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaila and Noah; her sister, Martha Faulkner of North Little Rock; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 3, 2017, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, with Billy Golden and Jon Howard officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in the Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the men of Kirby Church of Christ. Honorary pallbearers will be the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice Inpatient, 5th Floor, CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs.
