Mae Dean “Deanie” Garney Wilson, age 77, of Hot Springs, was called to her eternal home to be with her dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 19, 2021.
She was born on November 4, 1943, in Dierks, the daughter of O. W. and Clara Lee Eudy Garney. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only brother, Bobby Gene Garney, Pharm D.; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins in the Howard County area who also went on before her in death.
Deanie was a graduate of Dierks High School, winning many honors and awards as she excelled in her studies. She was an accomplished pianist and vocalist who was in demand in her home church in Dierks and others during revivals and other special services. She went on to then Henderson State Teachers College at Arkadelphia, and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in education with a double major in Business Education and English. After graduation form Henderson, she became a public school teacher, teaching English and Business at Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville for several years. She also worked as a legal secretary for several lawyers while she lived with her family in Mississippi. However, as she always said, her highest ambition in life was to be a homemaker, wife, and mother which she accomplished very well.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Chaplain Dr. M. R. “Mel” Wilson of Hot Springs; their only son, Mark Wilson and his wife, Nathalie; her three grandsons, Max, Luke, and Benjamin, all of Wynnewood, Pennsylvania; and many wonderful friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, August 23, 2021, in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Bro. Scott Bates officiating.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 22, 2021, 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.
