Mamdouh Mamoud Bakr

Listen to Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Mamdouh Bakr, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and teacher whose life was defined by dedication, perseverance, and deep love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mahmoud Bakr and Fatima; his brothers, Mahmoud Bakr and Mustafa Bakr; his sister, Samia Bakr; his beloved wife, Ruth Bakr; and his daughter, Nora Bakr, whom he missed dearly.

He leaves behind his son, Shawn Bakr (LeAnn), and his treasured grandchildren: Jacob Bialk, Kaela Kramer (Jace), Mitchell Bialk, Ian Bakr, Elias Bakr, and Reece Bakr; and two great-grandchildren, Adalynn Kramer and Cade Kramer. Being their grandfather brought him great joy, and he was immensely proud of each of them.

On January 25, 1964, he married Ruth, the love of his life. Together they built a life rooted in commitment, family, and hard work. After coming to the United States, he proudly became a naturalized citizen on May 1, 1973—a moment that meant a great deal to him.

Education was one of his lifelong passions. He earned his PhD in Engineering from Purdue University, a reflection of his determination and intellect. He spent many years teaching at Marquette University and UALR, where he impacted countless students. Teaching was never just a job for him—it was something he truly cared about. He retired in 2023, but his love of learning and sharing knowledge never faded.

To those who knew him well, he was steady, thoughtful, and deeply devoted to his family. He showed his love through presence, consistency, and quiet support rather than big words. His life leaves a lasting imprint on the people he taught, the family he loved, and the generations that follow him.
