Manie "Louise" Terrell Whitten, age 97, died December 28, 2017, in Longview, TX. Born November 21, 1920, in Pine Bluff, AR, the daughter of Jewel Palmer and Marvin Tee Terrell of Bauxite, AR. Mrs. Whitten lived in Bauxite prior to moving to Baytown in 1949, with her husband Floyd Whitten, who was employed by Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. They had been married almost fifty years when Floyd died in 1991. She attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia and then went on to graduate from State Teachers College in Conway, AR. Mrs. Whitten resided at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview for the last twenty years of her life.

Mrs. Whitten was a charter member of Country Club Oaks Garden Club, Colonial Dames of 17th Century and Baytown Genealogical Society, served as Registrar for the John Lewis D. A. R. Chapter, Baytown Porcelain Guild of China Painters, and an active member of Memorial Baptist Church since 1949.

Louise is survived by one daughter Manie Elizabeth "Bette" Higgs and husband Don; two granddaughters Megan Weaver and husband Mark of Baytown, TX, and Margo Singery of Longview, TX; two grandsons, Matthew Higgs and wife Aimee of Middleton, OH and Mark Whitten Higgs of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Marvin Palmer Terrell and wife Alice; great grandchildren Katie, Taylor, Charles, Jeff, Greg, Olivia, Andrew, Samantha, Gabriel, Caroline, Isaac and Presley; great-great grandchildren, London, Pearson, Gunner, Sparrow and Macey; nieces and nephews, Becky Terrell, Greg Terrell, Ann Robinson, Patty and Thomas Whitten Lueken, Rosemary and John Paul McKay, and Vicky and Bill McElduff.

Services will be 10:30 am, Saturday January 6, 2018 in the Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Arkadelphia, AR. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
