Margarete Anne Hiers

Margaret Hiers, aged 78, gently departed this world on August 24, 2026. Born in Columbus, MS, to Leo Hugh Powers Sr. and Pauline Powers Dodson, Margaret's life was a symphony of love and creativity.

On July 9, 1994, Margaret married Scott Hiers in Little Rock, AR, a union filled with cherished moments and mutual support. Her remarkable talents in music and art left a lasting impact, especially through her dedication to teaching piano to children of all ages. Known for her versatility in the musical realm, Margaret also contributed to the Arkansas chamber singers, enriching the community with her passion.

Predeceased by her parents and brothers, Bill Powers and Leo Powers Jr., Margaret leaves behind a legacy cherished by her husband Scott, sister Jane Riffell (Darrell) , daughter Lisa Menard (Jeff) , son Robert Russell (Lara), Grandsons Chad Britton and Tyler Russell, and a wide circle of family and friends including her cousin Mike who she has been close with her entire life.

Family and friends are invited to honor Margaret's life at a visitation on Friday, August 28th, from 5 to 6 P.M. at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 6 P.M.

The Hiers family deeply appreciates the compassionate care provided by Hospice Home Care services and welcomes contributions in Margaret’s memory to her favorite charities, the Central Arkansas Rescue Efforts and Alzheimer's Arkansas.
