Marjorie Wasson Brown Jones of Conway Arkansas has gone to glory with Jesus on July 9, 2015. She passed away at Arkansas Hospice within Little Rock’s Saint Vincent’s Hospital following complications from a brain hemorrhage. Margie was born June 20, 1933 in New York City to Harold Jesse Wasson and Dorothy Alexander Wasson then of Mountain Lakes New Jersey. Her family moved to Conway when she was in her teens and she attended Conway High School in the late 1940s but graduated from Gulf Park College in Gulfport Mississippi in 1950. She obtained her bachelors degree from Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois in 1954 with a major in speech therapy. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She married Robin Brown of Cleveland Ohio on June 26, 1954 in Conway. After living in Illinois and Ohio, they settled in Conway in 1958 where she reared their four children until Robin’s death in 1978. She married Gail Jones of Vilonia on December 18, 1981 and made their home in Conway until his death earlier this year. Margie was a stalwart supporter of Christian missionary work and hosted a monthly missions meeting at her home for the last several years. She has loved animals all her life and has trained and shown Quarter Horses and German Shepherd dogs with great success. She acquired and trained many wild animals over the years including a Bengal tiger and a wolf. Margie was an avid water skier in her younger days and a regular fixture at Lake Beaverfork in the 1960s. In her retirement years she enjoyed snow skiing and traveling. As a Conway resident since 1958 she was active in many community affairs including a stint as treasurer and president of the Junior Auxiliary. Margie was an astute business person dealing in real estate and other investments for many years here in Conway. She was preceded in death by her parents, older brother Robert (Bob) Wasson, older sister Lida Jane (Cookie) McCrory, first husband and father of her children Robin Brown, and second husband Gail Jones. She is survived by younger brother Harold Jesse “Jay” Wasson Jr and wife Bonnie of Walnut Creek California. She is survived by her children: sons Scott Brown and wife Tanya of Omaha Nebraska, Kevin Brown and wife Linda of Duncanville Texas, Bryan Brown and wife Donna of Dothan Alabama, and daughter Robin and husband Rodger McDougal of Conway Arkansas. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren: Samuel Brown and wife Amy of Dallas Texas, Daniel Brown and wife Kristina of Dallas Texas, Molly Brown of Omaha Nebraska, Andrew Brown of Lincoln Nebraska, and Luke Brown of Golden Colorado, all Scott’s children; Paul Brown and wife Cherie of Dallas Texas, David Brown and fiancé Elizabeth Graham of Dallas Texas, all Kevin’s children; Matthew Brown of Washington DC, Amy Brown of Dothan Alabama, Jeffrey Brown of Longview Texas, Timothy Brown of Colorado Springs Colorado, and Graham Brown of Dothan Alabama, all Bryan’s children; Hunter McDougal, Forest McDougal, Skylar McDougal, and Landon McDougal all of Conway Arkansas and all Robin’s children. Margie is also survived by three great-grandchildren: Roman Brown, Esther Brown, and Ezra Brown, all children of Samuel Brown in Dallas Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday July 14, 2015 at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home on Dave Ward Drive in Conway. Pastor Neal Winstead of Family Life Bible Church in Conway will officiate. Visitation will also be at Griffin Leggett from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday July 13, 2015. She will be interred at Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Margie’s grandsons Samuel Brown, Daniel Brown, Paul Brown, David Brown, Matthew Brown, Jeffrey Brown, Graham Brown, Hunter McDougal, Forrest McDougal, Skylar McDougal and Landon McDougal.
