Marjorie ("Marge") Brown Schultz Sharp passed into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19, 2017 in Maumelle, Arkansas. She was born in Rosebud, Arkansas on June 8, 1925 to Elmer C. Brown and Edna White Brown. Her parents and her beloved stepfather, Theron E. Johnston, preceded her in death, as did her only sibling, Gerald Brown. Her grandparents were Charles F. and Mary "Mollie" Rushin White and John T. and Cynthia Hicks Brown.
Marge grew up in Tennessee, where Mr. Johnston worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority. After graduating high school in 1943, she attended National Business College in Knoxville, TN. She was recruited from business college to work at Oak Ridge, TN, first for Roane-Anderson and later for Carbide and Carbon. Oak Ridge was the "Atomic City", home of the Manhattan Project in WWII. Marge was there on V-J Day in 1945 when Japan surrendered.
After her family returned to Arkansas in 1946, she was employed at UAMS before taking employment with the late Drs. Grady Reagan, John N. Roberts, and Curry Bradburn. She later worked for 20 years as the medical office manager for the late Dr. Howard Schwander. Marge took early retirement to take care of her ailing mother, Edna Johnston, and help manage Mrs. Johnston's apartment rental business until her mother's death in 1987. When her grandchildren were born in 1989, she became a full-time "Nana" and took care of Laura and Lindsey during the day while their mothers were at work.
A lifelong Southern Baptist, she was a long time member of Markham Street Baptist Church. She was very active in Home Missions, calling on homebound members who were too physically infirm to attend church, until her later years when she herself became homebound. Marge was very proud that her Single Seniors Sunday School class worked closely with the JoAnn Cayce Ministry of Thornton, AR to help serve the needy.
She was a member of the Avant Garde Chapter of the American Business Women's Association for 28 years. She was particularly interested in building their scholarship program for deserving young women. Marge received the honor of Woman of the Year.
Marge was married to the late Harold M. Schultz of Texarkana and the late Milton Dale Sharp of Little Rock. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Marjean Rowe and Gerri Ringgold (Kenny), granddaughters Laura Rowe Zollers (Dan) and Lindsey Ringgold Jordan (Drew), and great-grandson Hayden Jordan.
She is also survived by her lifelong friends - "sisters of the heart" - Peggy Gustison, Linda Patterson, and Audrey Henry, all of central Arkansas, and Thelma Padgett of Ooltewah, TN.
Loving gratitude to her dear friend Vance Marker, whose care and friendship was treasured through the last years of her life.
Marge will be remembered for her love of family, compassion for others, abiding faith in God, sharp mind, sense of humor, vivacious personality, and stunning beauty.
