With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Martie F. Taylor, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. Martie was born on February 20, 1955, in Shiloh, Tennessee, and passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the love of his family.
Martie was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Taylor and Katherine (Martin) Taylor McDonald; his sister, Mary Taylor; his brothers, James Taylor and Robert Taylor; his son, James Parr; and his grandson, Xavier McKinney.
He leaves behind his long time friend, Mary Brimer, and his children: Sheryl Owens and her husband, Bruce; Doris Davidson; John Parr and his wife, Tammy; Charles Finney; and Patricia Taylor. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Martie found great joy in gardening and took pride in growing vegetables and sharing his harvest with family, friends, and members of the community. He also loved planting flowers and bushes, often cutting beautiful blooms to give to his daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters on special occasions. These small but meaningful gestures reflected the love he had for his family.
He was also known for his love of cooking. Martie prepared countless meals for his children and grandchildren, always happy to make their favorite dishes whenever they asked. His kitchen was a place filled with warmth, laughter, and the comfort of being together. Martie will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the quiet ways he showed his love for those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created with his family will live on in their hearts forever. His family takes comfort in knowing that the love he planted in their lives will continue to grow, much like the gardens and flowers he cared for so deeply.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026, followed by graveside service at 2:00 p.m. at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Beebe. Arrangements by Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home. Online guestbook at www.smithfamilycares.com
