Martin Miller

Martin Frank Miller was born on December 7, 1930, in Saint Vincent, Arkansas, to the late Martin Math and Marie Ermann Miller. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rose Mary Zakrzewski Miller of Marche; son Richard Martin Miller and his wife Dennise of Mayflower; grandson Thomas Martin Miller and granddaughter Leah Michelle Miller of Mayflower; brothers, John Miller of Marche and Charles Miller of Melbourne; sister, Romana Ann Jones of Marche and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Louise Miller Butler, and brother Raymond Miller. His great great grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee. The United States government burned their house in Tennessee and she walked in the Trail of Tears from Tennessee to Tahlequah, Oklahoma when she was six years old.
Martin served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and aboard the USS AULT DD698 & the USS HASS DE424. He was "proud to be a TIN CAN SAILOR." He was a member of the American Legion Post #1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Martin was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Marche, and a member of the Rosary Sodality. He was also a member of 3rd & 4th Degree Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Knights of America. Martin was the past President of the Little Rock Sertoma Club, and a past member of the Oak Forrest Lions Club. He was elected to the first school board of the Catholic High School and Immaculate Heart of Mary School. Martin held the position of Pulaski County Justice of the Peace for 24 years and was a past member of the Arkansas Law Enforcement Officers Association, as well as a member of the German American Club.
He owned M & M Printing Company and Bass Printing and Publishing Company. He worked for twelve years at the Catholic Diocese of Little Rock as their printer and pressman, printing and mailing their weekly newspaper, "The Guardian", which is now, "The Arkansas Catholic." In 1980, Martin started the family business, Miller Lighting Supply, allowing him to travel all over the state of Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.

A visitation will be held time 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, August 16, 2017, at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St. with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Immaculate Heart of Mary, 7006 Jasna Gora Drive, North Little Rock. Burial with military honors will follow in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery.
